Domestic Violence Project
In collaboration with the Austin Young Lawyers Association, VLS provides attorneys for victims of domestic violence who have urgent legal needs.
Each year, the Austin Young Lawyers Association recruits a group of young lawyers who make a commitment to take at least two cases involving domestic violence with an immediate need for legal assistance. VLS trains the lawyers to handle these cases in a full day seminar covering basic divorce and child custody matters and a second three hour training on topics more likely to arise in cases where there has been a history of domestic violence.
The Domestic Violence Project began in December 2003 and has been going strong ever since!
